What is the big picture role of the Patient Care Coordinator?
The Patient Care Coordinator’s job description combines their expertise in relationship building with administrative prowess. For example, our goal is to provide an unexpected, extraordinary experience to our patients when they call Augusta Endodontic Center. Your ability to relate, connect and conversationally engage to learn details about their referral and concerns that prompt their call, set the stage for their first experience, and is authenticated by the manner in which the patient is greeted by you when they enter the office. We practice not only the golden rule; we have a platinum rule: “Treat the patient as THEY want to be treated.” Respect, warmth, efficiency, and support are conveyed in our platinum rule.
Behind the curtain, the PCC’s role is complex and enjoyable to manage if you enjoy a nicely paced day with no downtime. Your expertise in software (once trained), processes, and documentation are the framework that supports the clinical team’s seamless transfer of key pieces of patient information. Responsibilities (after training) include:
· Warmly receiving patients as they visit the office for their root canal therapy. We are as interested in the well-being of the overall patient as we are the tooth. Recognition, rapport, and authentic expression of interest are key to effectiveness in this role.
· Scheduling/Coordinating the appointment schedule for daily productivity and ease of operation.
· New patient “in-take”, data registration including implementation of Covid-19 screening procedures.
· Building rapport with referring staff and doctors who contact our office requesting us to care for their patients.
· Explaining treatment fees, insurance benefits, and payment arrangement for emergency care and future services.
· Working in harmony with co-workers to help everyone have the gift of the present day be the best day that we can make it.
